Users in Halo can be bulk imported and passwords updated if Active Directory has not been enabled/configured. The steps below explain how.
Step 1: Amend CSV Separator
For imports into Halo, the CSV values need to be separated by a semicolon rather than the standard comma. To amend this, you need change the following setting in Windows:
- Go to Window Settings
- Click Time and Language
- Click Region
- On the right, under Additional settings, click ‘Additional Date, Time and Regional Settings’
- In the new box, click ‘Change Date, Time and Number Formats’
- In the region box, click Additional settings at the bottom
- Under list separator, amend to a semi-colon and save.
- Now, continue below to import users or any other content into Halo.
Step 2: Import Users
- Export existing users as CSV

- Split Text to Columns
- Add a new column at the end labelled ‘Password’ and populate it with the password.
- Add a new column at the end labelled 'Passwordchangeatfirstlogin' and populate with TRUE.
- Save as CSV and import.
